Bird cages are one of my favorite design motifs and decor objects. I love the delicate lines of the metal combined with the strength of being functional and the never-ending array of designs (though my favorites are decidedly of the antique variety). I love the symbolism of an open bird cage and it is an image I use a lot in my life. In fact, I'm currently working on a sketch to make that my blog/brand logo (in the company of some of my other favorite things).
I'm also in the process of restoring/revamping a couple of older bird cages given to me by my grandma. She was going to throw them out when she moved, but I couldn't let such beauties go to waste like that. They need a little TLC, but I can't wait until I can get them cleaned up and on display.
What are some of your favorite design motifs?
That wasn't the most productive half hour ever, but I seem to be getting another wind so that's something to be happy about. I think singing and dancing around will be in order soon.
