It's Time

Running shoes outtake 46/365, originally uploaded by maria erin photography.

It's time. Time to get in shape, that is. When I was younger I was pretty athletic, despite some of my health challenges. As a young girl I was active in ballet and ice skating and while I grew out of my interest in those activities I became passionate about tennis. I played for years, up through high school, but academics and life got in the way. Through years of depression I pretty much let myself go, in between yo-yo diets that never stuck. Now is the time to reclaim that. In the last few months I've really started to notice my limitations when it comes to physical activity. My endurance is pretty much non-existent. My already accident prone self stays stays injured when it should be healing. I have to push my body harder to accomplish things it should do with relative ease. This is the year that things are going to change.

That said, I'm going to do things a little differently this time. I can never stick to programs that involve detailed counting. Points, calories, carbs; within a few weeks it always falls by the wayside. This time I'm going to go about this sensibly. Less "bad" food and more "good" food. Better portion sizes. Less processed food. Less eating out. Most of all, I want to focus on getting my body moving more. I want to be able to run a 5K. I want to be able to dance the night away without being short of breath. Next winter, I want to learn how to ski.

It's time.

  2. Thank you! I enjoyed yours as well. Yoga is something I would love to do more of and that DVD sounds like something I could do.
