I was feeling a little down today so I did what I always do to cheer myself up, I look at things that inspire me. This led to a though as I was looking at my Flickr favorites page, why not share some of that inspiration with you? So here it is! Each time I fill up a full page of Flickr favorites I'll share them here. After all, I believe that inspiration is something best shared ♥

Inspiring Magazines

Magazines and their glossy pictures have been an inspiration to me as long as I remember. I have clippings dating back to elementary school that I'm working on incorporating into inspiration books and it's been a blast to sort through so far. I have four particular favorites:

Victoria I've read this publication since I was a little girl and my mom would subscribe. Years ago they stopped publishing, but recently they came back with Bliss tacked onto the name and a renewed spirit. I love everything about this magazine from the gorgeous photography to the articles on all things beautiful from gardening to art to style.

Somerset Life I came across this a couple of years ago and it has since become my personal favorite. The theme of the publication is finding ways to beautify everyday life from dressing up office supplies to little ways to surprise others. This is a personal mission of mine so I really connect with it. The inspiring projects and photography only fuel my love for this beautiful publication.

Artful Blogging It will come as no surprise that I love blogs. I love reading them. I love writing them. I love the community surrounding them. This is the magazine that inspired me to start blogging in the public sphere again. It's also introduced me to some of my favorite bloggers.

Martha Stewart Living It was a happy accident that led me to subscribing to this. My points on a survey site were running out and this was the only prize I was interested in and I'm so glad it was. The amount of inspiration I find each month from this magazine is amazing. From projects to recipes I have so many new things to try!

Finding Inspiration

Lately I've been struggling with my creativity. I've been in a funk. Honestly, this is nothing new. During college I wasn't able to find the time to be creative and now that I'm finished I've been trying to get my spark back. I've tried dozens of methods, but nothing stuck. Until now.

As a young girl I spent a lot of time making inspiration boards from my favorite magazine clippings. I had them displayed all over the place. Larger ones adorned my walls while smaller versions found their way onto my notebook and binder covers. I had notebooks filled with style favorites and clips of pretty photos. Over the years I stopped making them, though I never stopped collecting clippings or magazines.

Now I have a veritable army of both, languishing in stacks around my room. I was flipping through some of them a couple of months ago when I felt a rush of new ideas fill my head. It's taken me a while to decide how to harness this feeling, but now these clippings will have a purpose. They will fill a series of themed (so far: style, design, holidays/special occasions, and general inspiration) notebooks. At the moment I'm working on sorting through the last of my magazines and organizing the clippings, but I can't wait to share the end result and the steps along the way. My spark is back and I couldn't be more excited.
